Their notions of gods and what the bible says - or hints or indicates - is so flimsy and insubstantial there is no way to pin it down.

A rather poor bit of strategy on the part of House Democrats. I think a National Holiday in order to allow people to vote is a great idea. Unfortunately, they've shackled it to more controversial initiatives. They should separate the divisive planks in the bill from the less divisive ones and pass them separately. I'm sure one can speculate on the reasons why they did this, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the thoughts was that if we present Republicans this poison pill, we can hold it over their heads at election time. The Democrats can and should be smarter than this. That they aren't is, I suppose, human, but disappointing, nonetheless.
