Yep, and so is Omicron which is why we went to 'Plan B' restrictions yesterday. I'll be amazed if we aren't in full lockdown by new year. Going through Xmas like this would be for political reasons.
I dont see >80% of people vaccinated in the UK. I see 68% fully vaccianted and another 7% vaccinated, totaling 75%.
Source: https://ourworldindata.org/covid-cases BBC gives >80%.
Right now it's descending into mayhem, we've had the first death from Omicron. Booster-wise we've gone from elderly and vulnerable first to every man for himself and the NHS site collapsed with everyone trying to book a booster and home test kits.
People are traveling 50 miles to try and get a jab.
Whether there's a Plan C or we go to full lockdown is an open question.

Well the population here is >80% vaccinated and it's spreading like it's Feb 2020 again.
Yes, but are they getting seriously ill?
FWIW hospitalised Omicron cases are rising. The majority are double vaccinated.

How's it going?
No side effects, just like with the first two shots.
You're lucky (unless you buy the argument that side effects = a robust immune system).
My wife got her booster and once again, and like with the second shot, she has enraged lymph nodes in her armpit on the side she got the shot. Like a collection of golf balls in there.
There's no question in either of our minds, though, that the side effects of a vaccination are nothing compared to the side effects of an infection.

Coronavirus spreads. But don't panic! (topical thread)
Pfizer says its COVID pill near 90% effective in clinical trials. The company says it can have 180,000 treatment courses ready to ship this year and plans to produce at least 80 million in 2022.
"Pfizer Inc has said the final analysis of its antiviral COVID-19 pill showed close to 90 percent efficacy in preventing hospitalisations and deaths in high-risk patients with recent lab data suggesting the drug retains its effectiveness against the fast-spreading Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The US drugmaker’s remarks came on Tuesday after it said last month the oral medicine was about 89 percent effective in preventing hospitalisations or deaths when compared with placebo based on interim results in about 1,200 people."
(Sorry if posted already.)

My medical-transcriptionist brain autocorrected that to "enlarged lymph nodes," but I actually like "enraged" better.

Agree totally. A few days grief for guaranteed immunity... well 98% here.
I had my booster yesterday with no noticeable side effects. That's 2x AstraZeneca + 1x Pfizer.

New indoor mask mandate here in CA. Golden State Ballet is already requiring patrons to wear masks to the Nutcracker. I reckon the state's announcement will mean the dancers will be masked as well, but maybe not. It'll be interesting to see.
Getting my booster on the 16th, two days before the Nut.
Is this sig thing on?

I hope you feel well enough to to the the Nutcracker after your booster shot. When I got the second shot of Maderna I was in bed for a day and tired for 4 or 5 days afterwards. I'm getting my booster on Dec. 28th so I'm not going to the Portland Nutcracker but I'm so glad the dancers are back on stage. They've had a rough almost two years of no performances before a live audience and dancers have such a short career. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

I had my booster yesterday with no noticeable side effects. That's 2x AstraZeneca + 1x Pfizer. The second time my gf caught COVID was terrible she said (although she wasnt hospitalized). She was 2 weeks "out of order" and isolated. This was the beginning of November. As of today she is still taking antibiotics and lots of other stuff. Why? COVID reduced her immune response, and she is suffering from a nasty bacteria called "Klebisella*". She is still in (various kinds of) pain and tired all.day.long.
* which happens to have a natural resistance to antibiotics

That would be great, but I am fine with getting two shots like I did when I got my booster and a flu shot on the same visit.

People don't want to neglect getting their flu shots. There's some real nasty flu viruses out there. I got a high potency flu vaccine last month and a few days later I got the booster.

After having covid at the end of 2020, I'm not messing around this year. I got my flu shot in October for the first time in decades. I got the covid booster in November. And I'm getting the two shingles vaccines, the first one this Friday. My brother-in-law got a painful and prolonged case of shingles this year, so that's nothing to neglect either if you are older.

Considering the nasty back to back colds I have had this season, I suppose it might be prudent to get the flu shot next year.
I'm getting older and I can't just shake the sickness off anymore.

On another note. Don't forget to ask your doctor for Viagra. In the news: The Cleveland Clinic has found that Viagra is 69% effective in preventing Alzheimer's disease. I'll be thinking long and hard on that one.

Study from South-Africas biggest private health insurance company (November to December, ca. 200.000 people, so not really extensive) about Omicron:
Biontech protects 70% from severe case / need of hospitalization
