A step forward, certainly. The only issue I find is that he still refers to it as a civil union rather than a marriage.

Pope Francis does this to avoid having same sex marriage.  Today I got a Gallup e-mail with a survey of catholic support for same sex marriage.  69% of catholics support same sex marriages.  So much for Leviticus 20.
