75 years ago today, the Germans launched their last offensive on the Western Front. Americans took to calling it "the Battle of the Bulge". 'Twas (and remains) the bloodiest battle Americans had fought aside from our Civil War. Some pictures showing the brutal weather and the men who fought in it:

To simplify CCC the US troops on the northern flank were put under the control of Monty. After the battle was over Monty was saying they had to call him in save the whole front. He was advised to knock that shit off or he'd be sent back to England.
