Pith on that, buddy!
I have a mental bin full of pithy sayings. One of my favorites is "They're all mad save thee and me, and thee I'm none to sure about."

Whatcha got?

When people ask me if I have a good memory (which I don't, I have to write down everything), I usually say that I have such a good memory that I can even remember things that never even happened.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

My aunt would tell us put on lipstick whenever we were flustered or upset.

How that was supposed to help, I never learned. But, I always think of it when I’m in those states.

"Everything is easy for the man who doesn't have to do it himself."

I used that often in my union days when some self-important management asswipe said something stupid.

It probably has to do with helping you calm down by doing something routine, normal or mundane. It's like when I'm anxious about something, I start cleaning the house.

Got an email from our health & safety committee today about required training courses, usual H&S awareness training stuff.

But one of the courses is listed as "Workplace Violence & Harassment Training", so I asked the facilitator if we have to bring our own weapons or will they be provided.

He was not amused.

Tongue

Also a few months ago my boss commented "sometimes I don't believe half of what you tell say"

I responded " you actually believe half of what I say, I didn't know you were that gullible!"

When we had a meeting on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, a co worker asked if he could take notes for future fun.  This was funny as he was known to be a joker anyway.

Every time some senior manager got caught chasing his secretary around the desk the IRS' knee-jerk reaction was to insist that the entire work force get sexual harassment training.

I made that observation at a Labor/Management meeting one day.  They were not amused.  Fuck them.

Mass training implies no single person is at fault. Of course nobody knows who the at-fault parties are. Of course.

I used that often in my union days when some self-important management asswipe said something stupid.

Last summer I was asked to look at a deep dig inside a school to tie some new fixtures in. We were doing the work but the boss had written in an exclusion if the general contractor wanted to do the digging for $5800. <way too low IMO>.
The meathead general contractor thought he could just rent a machine and do the work. He checked that box on the contract and then realized what it might entail, and I was no asked to "look into it".
I get there and the guy started out with some flippant remark along your line of reasoning, like it was no big deal. Rubbed me the wrong way.
When I got done assessing the situation I advised against picking up that work, and it was positively delicious to leave that asshole swinging on the hook. Dance
