Graham Platner - Ceding the moral high ground
You wouldn't want the SS to be accused of being "pirates," would you?

Platner said he got the skull and crossbones tattoo in 2007, when
he was 23, and in the Marine Corps. It happened during a night of
drinking while he was on leave in Croatia, he said, adding he was
unaware until recently that the image was associated with the Nazis.
I wonder how many former military combatants have today similar
tattoos applied during a more youthful, drunken night of macho bravado?
And call me naive, but I'd be guessing there are thousands of young
men who still, today, are getting very similar tattoos, also with no
recognition of it also being utilised by the German SS. Personally, I
did not make, or still do not make this apparent connection.
If what you provided is SS tattoo then I too wouldn't recognize it as such and modesty aside I know a thing or two about nazis.
Also per Wikipedia Totenkopf looks different:

Looks like he's out. Time to scramble Mainiacs.
No I'm not, but I do have tendencies.
