Any other WWII nuts here?

I guess being an Aussie I have a very limited historical interest in
the machinations of WWII.  My interests lie more in the Korean war
and more so in the Vietnam war, as, obviously I was directly affected
by each at those times—as was our country.

I am a (older and wiser) pacifist by nature, and constantly horrified,
firstly by the concept of modern wars per se, and then angered
by the witless repetition of these ultimately fruitless and counterproductive
wastes of human life and resources, plus the longer-term misery caused
to innocent, uninvolved members of the communities thusly affected.

This is fascinating. I just don't like violence...I am somewhat conflicted.

As for violence, the mission is to stop the violence. Surgery is violence to the person, but the goal is the same, end a problem.

Yes. The United States has just started a rerun of
the Vietnam war, but on a different stage. Sticking
its 'murikan nose in where it's not wanted.

That will occur when we put boots on the ground.  And then, when they get shot at, we'll send in more boots to protect the ones who are already there.

We are no longer the good guys.
