Everybody's special.

Everybody's special.
It sounds like an oxymoron, however every mind is a universe entire, and everybody is, and deserves to feel and be unique and special. My name's Dexta and I'm on the autistic spectrum. Does being on the autistic spectrum make me more special? I say no. More powerful perhaps, but not more special.

This is a weird one. Thoughts?
Maybe atheism doesn't have burden of proof because it's impossible to prove an invisible, silent, utterly undetectable thing doesn't exist.

Words are words, use them as you will. Concepts are vaporous at best.

And yeah, I was kicked out of Philosophy 101 at Purdue.
My posts are best read in an sardonic tone of voice.

I think this intersects with the concept of the sacred. While the concept has diversified considerably over time, its core relates to things reserved for God or the divine. We can see an echo of this in the more common idea that to be special is to be outside of and above the ordinary, with the ordinary being the mundane, everyday norm that is neither sacred nor divine. For someone who does not believe in the divine, this must be recast into figurative connotations, that being special means that one is exceptional enough to be fit for the category of the divine, as if they were literally sacred or holy in the original sense. So the question then becomes, if one means by special, that one is exceptional in this sense, are neurodivergent people special? This raises the question of norms and exceptions. While being neurodivergent is definitely not the norm, as the norm is those who aren't neurodivergent and make up the majority of the population of so-called normies, it does not then follow that they are exceptional in the sense described above. Thus there appears to be a gray area between being normal and being special into which autism fits.

I was born with a genetic condition I could have died from- some of the health issues I had when I was a kid were a heart defect, and I would choke on food often. I don't feel very special! I actually resent the idea because of what I had to deal with back then. Frankly I'm pissed off by people who advocate intelligent design too. They always ignore people like myself.
