We have never seen him level that critique against Trump beforehand; if he levels it only now, that would strike me as simple opportunism. I think he's having a little meltdown due to losing Trump's imprimatur, watching Tesla sales drop through the floor, watching SpaceX rockets blow sky-high, and this is the only way he thinks he can recover cache.

The existence of humans who believe in a deity is not evidence that there is a deity.
There are people like Michael Cohen and Lev Parnas who used to be in TrumpWorld and now oppose him, who believe wholeheartedly that it is Musk who will come way out on the short end of the stick here. This is not a clash of equals. Musk has more personal wealth, but Trump has the vast wealth (spoils?) of the US government at his disposal, and the power and influence that goes with it. He will crush Musk reflexively as a matter of course. He has the power to nationalize SpaceX and deport Musk, for example.
Loyalty is everything to Trump. And it's useful to make examples. |
