Yes I know about Australia. I wouldn't go there anyway, I don't like the cities, they have no historical architecture and its culture has been eroded. I usually tend to voice my opinions among likeminded people. I live a fairly quiet life, minding my own business, doing things in a way that suits me, and not worrying about what others think.

If I don't like the look of someone, for example the way they carry themselves or the way they dress, I simply don't employ them or rent to them. The slightest thing is enough for me to say no. If the person has a hairstyle that is common among thugs, they're out the door. If their trousers are hanging halfway down their thighs, it's a no from me. Or if they speak ghetto, that's the end of the road. Not that those things are what I would consider slight. I've turned down people for less.

If I was answerable to someone else it would be almost impossible, but since I'm totally independent, I do as I please. I discriminate very harshly against people who I feel would be a mismatch for me and as a result my life has minimal drama.

Must be comforting to live in a bubble. I tend to seek out others different from myself and feel I’ve been infinitely rewarded for doing so…from being invited to dinners where I discover some really great but different foods, to their culture and sense of humor and to their lived experiences which are often quite different from my own. I want to live in a more multicultural society and I enjoy seeing the strengths and weaknesses of others and allow them to see it in me.

I’ve never been an independent business person but I’ve worked in mono cultures and multi cultures. The monos were boring and predictable. The multis were lively and much more fun, even though the work was the same in both. I think that you just want to stay in your comfortable bubble and tell yourself how much better it is rather than expanding your horizons and growing as a human. Meh, you do you.

True but some are as thick as two short planks... Not mentioning any names of course.

LOL... this is so funny (well not really) and simply exemplifies
you close-minded, hypocritical attitude.   I do of course now
understand where you're coming from—judging by the puerile
comments that you've posted here.

It's a pity—but no loss to the the forum—that you don't have the
mental acumen necessary to carry out any reasoned debate.  If
you ultimately revive a few of your apparently moribund brain
cells, please feel free to begin posting as an adult.

It means that Jamie's fingers are responding to some weird wiring up top.
From what I've seen from Jamie I'm reminded of a dog that's trying it's best to behave but just can't help shagging your leg.

I think a lot depends on how open to the public your business is. If it is a store where you depend on random people coming in to shop then you have to accept all customers. But perhaps if your business is a consulting service, you get to choose who you accept as clients. And some businesses are in between, which is where the legal system gets involved.

I'll probably regret this, but some art work (for example) involves close and continuing involvement with someone. About a request you don't like. Say a slavemaster on a horse holding a whip. You should be able to say "no" because you hate slavery. But suppose you only objected because the slavemaster was an Arab and you don't like Arabs. Where do you draw the line? And how could a court decide about your cause to decline?

He is obviously just shitposting/trolling. It's that simple. No particular stupid racist or whatever some people may want to see. Just a pretty bad shit poster who failed to keep his story straight after a few posts.

In practice, in the us, it doesn't.  Each and every business owner and any kind of business is free to be as discriminatory and racist as they like in their hiring and firing decisions..and they are exactly that.  In the odd event that you even have to give a reason...you can give any other reason.  Thus our pro-discrimination cases routinely center themselves on hypothetical hate cake transactions rather than real harms suffered by actual plaintiffs.

That's exactly right. This is one of the reasons why being self employed is so much better than being an employee. You're free to make your own decisions as to who to work with. I have minimal problems in my life and my business simply because I am very discriminating about who I deal with.

(my bold)

I'm sure that you truly believe this to be true mate,
but judging by the nonsensical comments you've
flooded this forum with, I can say—categorically, and
without even having met you in person—that this is
unequivocally wrong.

It's made obvious by your distorted and myopic view
of people as individuals, or the world around you.

You're obviously and unwittingly blinded by your
hypocrisy and parochialism, your public racism,
your sanctimoniousness and your unwillingness to
consider, even for a moment, other peoples' opinions
—both of yourself and the world most of us [sic]
live in.

I actually think you're a very sad, introverted individual
struggling to make sense of a modern world that's left
you behind.       You have a very 1950's black and white
television frame of mind set.       Sad really.

Traveling certainly broadens the mind. I've been to many countries and seen people do things in many different ways and it teaches you a lot. Humans are very versatile.

Many stereotypes have some truth to them, especially the ones about "those people".
