Halloween things, it's that time again.

Halloween things, it's that time again.
Mountain-high though the difficulties appear, terrible and gloomy though all things seem, they are but Mâyâ.
Fear not — it is banished. Crush it, and it vanishes. Stamp upon it, and it dies.

I might carve a pumpkin with a cat face (I have a couple downloaded images) just for neighborhood reasons. Other than that, I don't care about the holiday.

From today's paper...

"Australians will spend on average around $93 per person
this year and overall about $450 million will come from
Halloween spending across multiple categories."

Meanwhile, the Victorian state government is investing
$56.4 million to expand the Royal Children’s Hospital in
Melbourne, allowing it to continue to meet increasing
demand through the expansion of acute paediatric beds
and emergency department services.

—I'm pleased to see that my fellow Victorians can easily
and appropriately decide on where their money should
   be spent most wisely.

Paediatric beds -- for obesity!

I'll be watching a different horror show. Thursday Night Football with the New York Jets.

Happy Halloween! Been in a long drought (southeast Texas) so rain was needed but...terrible timing for thunderstorms but mostly clear in prime trick or treats time, early evening. Nice to have the community get out and interact.

I don't know if people in this area have fallen on hard times or if they've lost their enthusiasm for Halloween. Over the past few weeks, I've noticed a dearth of Halloween decorations in front of people's houses. They don't have even a few pumpkins on their front porches, although my brother said it's just the opposite in his neighborhood. Anyway, Halloween passed without incident at my house. Next time I go to the supermarket, they'll be selling 20-pound bags of candy at half-price.  Evil_monster

We've had younger families move into the hood in the past couple of years. From the sound of it the kids were enjoying themselves. Fortunately they knew to stay off my lawn.

Trick or treaters are decreasing in numbers. Many businesses, churches and schools have parties and Trunk or Treat events where the kids are safely supervised and get as much candy as they did walking the blocks.

We had about 80 kids come to the house. Compared to past years, that’s a decrease of about %50 except for the pandemic year where we only got 20 kids. Safety and supervision seem to be causing it. Helicopter parents are still a thing. The teens still seem to come over in big numbers since they are at that “I’m independent of my parents” age.
