The Offence of Vatican Wealth

Information
The Offence of Vatican Wealth
The Vatican’s asset management body, known as the
Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See (APSA),
reported a 45.9 million Euro profit ($49.6 million)
in its 2023 annual report on Tuesday, an increase of 13.6
million euros ($14.7 million) from the previous year.

Approximately 37.9 million euros ($41 million),
which accounts for 82.6% of the total profit
generated, will go toward supporting the work
and activities of the Roman Curia. The remaining
7.9 million euros ($8.5 million) will be reinvested
into APSA to further increase its assets.

In total, APSA valued the total patrimony managed
by the Vatican at over 2.7 billion euros ($2.9 billion)
in 2023.

[Patrimony in this case is property
traditionally owned by the church.)

Surely you wouldn't expect pope frankie or any of his parasitical predecessors to park their fat asses on a regular chair, would you?

What disgusts me even more is that the finances of each parish is a separate entity. Not the land or church sitting on it but the purse strings of the parishes. Thats why a parish can declare bankruptcy and not pay any further awards to victims of their priests disgusting actions. They also tend to have large cemetery funds that are immune from bankruptcy funds. They protect and hide their assets very well.

I wish there was a way legally to force the RCC to make payouts to all their victims…large amounts to see these victims through counseling, other medical issues due to being abused and live a relatively well off life. Unfortunately, the church ain’t stupid and know the laws that protect them in each country where they live.

Just add it to the “life isn’t fair” column, I guess.

Note to self, remove Vatican donation from my will.

Sure as fuck ain't anything like that in my will, and even though I volunteered as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America movement, they're not getting any, either.

A listener on Marketplace.org asked:

When people say, “more money than God,” what might be a real number for that amount of money on Earth that God has? I’m thinking of the entire income and assets for all faith organizations, including houses of worship, faith charities, etc. How might we estimate that and compare it to large nations’ GDPs, the world’s wealthiest billionaires and our national debt?

If you’re looking at the Catholic Church alone, “God”
has at least—and we’re putting a huge emphasis
on “at least”—$73 billion in assets.

The Catholic church is almost as rich as Michael Bloomberg,
about as rich as the state of Rhode Island, and wealthier
than Ivory Coast, Uzbekistan or Croatia.

The Archdiocese of New York has so many churches, so many
schools, so many hospitals, it owns so much real estate. But
very few of the dioceses issue financial statements that would
pass muster with a CPA.

To a person seeking to be led by a religious leader, who would appear more credible (and attractive) - a wealthy celebrity, or an unpretentious pauper?  There's a reason (other than sheer personal avarice) the prominent religious leaders aren't just wealthy but flaunt their wealth.

A better question might be, as George Carlin once asked...."why does he always need more?"

Look, the Bible clearly says that God creates evil, and money's the root of all evil.  Therefore, God needs to make a mint.

Why anybody does? Pope is just man like any other* so I imagine he simply likes having cash. Also their silly dresses might cost pretty penny.

*Not really. Majority of men aren't leaders of international pedophile ring.

The chair on which Popes sit cost $40 million, and is made
from pure gold. This is the former Pope, praying to God to
help starving children in sub-Saharan Africa.    Well done!
