That's what it boils down to here. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of "god bless yous" and stuff, but most people just assume that they're one flavor or another and don't want to start a tiff -- or even know why they go to this church or that outside of "I've got more friends there". My sister is one of the latter.
On hiatus.

Downunder it's far more likely to be "shit!", or "fuck me!" and its
variants.  From both genders.

BTW, how often do you hear "fuck" or even "cunt" on American TV?
I don't think I ever have.  Why is that—considering how our younger
generations actually speak in the real world?

As a Scot, we have a somewhat casual use of the term....and it's not always derogatory:

Good cunt = nice person
Daft cunt = silly person
Thick cunt = stupid person
That cunt = him/her
Kick his cunt in = fight that man
Ooo ya cunt ye = that's sore
Where's my lighter? Some cunt's got it!
Are you coming out tonight? Everycunt is going.
How many cunts liked your Facebook status?
Does anycunt know the time?
He's an alright cunt him.
A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence.

Aye, in parts of Scotland it's the same as Good Morning.

My...   How things have changed in 50 years! For the better.

I've always considered Carlin to be the greatest stand-up comedian
of all time. His timing, tone and delivery will never be matched.

Second Billy Connolly, thirdly Jerry Seinfeld.     YMMV
I'm a creationist;   I believe that man created God.

An elderly uncle of mine once "witnessed" to me and my wife for about a half hour.  We just politely let him talk and didn't mention what we really thought.  We both assumed he was too far gone to have any reasonable conversation.

As a side note, this uncle willed his house to his church when he died at the age of 100 eight years ago. His house was likely worth at least $200,000 at that time.

People are weird.

My late / previous wife had a saying, "assholes never die" ... your Uncle living so long seems to support that.

As far as I am aware, my uncle was otherwise a nice man.  He was just a sucker for his church and religious word-magic.  My very nice brother-in-law was similar.

I blame the fact that for many people, the nonsense they were taught early in their lives made them intellectual cripples.

However, the fact remains that both my uncle and my brother-in-law spent lots of time and money on their churches, which I now consider morally bankrupt.  So perhaps in that sense your ex-wife was right.  Intellectual cripples create more intellectual cripples, who go on forever -- except in a nice, socially-approved way.

Yeah my brother tries to be nice, occasionally even succeeds, but he was still being an asshole when he was trying to witness to my wife. That is all I meant regarding your Uncle.

Yes life seldom gives us cartoon-book villains and even then (e.g., Trump) we can't get rid of them. How many more cheeseburgers before he's gone, lol. If I ate like him I'd already be dead. Hence the credibility in my late wife's dictum.
