Christian apologist claims human limbs can regrow
Humans can regenerate the tips of their fingers and toes and portions of their liver. The pesky thing about being warm-blooded is that you need to pump a lot of nutrients around, so when the plumbing comes undone those spurting arteries have to be sealed off fast. We evolved faster healing mechanisms but sacrificed regeneration as a result. That's partly because most warm-blooded critters that lose a limb don't live long enough to grow it back.

Quote:Salamanders have been hailed as champions of regeneration, exhibiting a remarkable ability to regrow tissues, organs and even whole body parts, e.g. their limbs. As such, salamanders have provided key insights into the mechanisms by which cells, tissues and organs sense and regenerate missing or damaged parts. In this Primer, we cover the evolutionary context in which salamanders emerged.
Quote:During the Devonian period, around 400 million years ago, the first tetrapods began exploring land. During this period, they radiated into several branches, including two types of amphibians: frogs (anurans – without tail) and salamanders (urodeles – tail showing). While all amphibians exhibit regenerative capacities, some of these are more regenerative than others. Indeed, compared with their tailless peers, salamanders excel in regenerating damaged or lost body parts throughout their entire life. In fact, among tetrapods, salamanders exhibit the widest range of regenerative capacity, with an impressive ability to regrow tissues, organs and entire body parts (Tanaka, 2003; Yun, 2015).
So much for humans being the Apex of "Creation!"
I'll see your salamander and raise with planaria.

I think I'll stick with the lizard. After all, how many times have the Japanese resurrected Godzilla?
