Should I accept a reward for doing the right thing?

My friend says you should never accept a reward for something like returning a lost puppy or wallet. But I don't see the problem. Thoughts?

I refuse and if they insist, I’ll accept it.  I’m just happy to return a lost item as I’ve lost stuff myself.  And yes, it makes me feel good.

Doing a good deed is its own reward, but if a person feels compelled to reward me, I'll accept.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

If someone absolutely won't take "No" for an answer, there's always the option of donating the money.

If a person gets a pet or wallet back and a reward is offerred, accept it and pass it on. The person was that grateful, accept the gift. Use it kindly to others. We all need some help sometimes.

I have lost 2 wallets in my life. One time, I found it sitting at my front door (returned by someone who asked nothing in return). The other I never found and cancelled everything in it.

One time I found a wallet outside a liquor store. I returned it to the store manager. Never got a "thank's" from the owner. But you return lost things because it is the right thing to do.
My wall art is eclectic. It keeps me thinking...
