I should point out that it's not just my own mathemagical culture that is welcoming to the stranger, it is my wife's magical culture as well. (She comes from a Catholic culture, one of Colombia's 500 year old so-called "cultures of resistence", where non-violence is a lifestyle, not a tactic, famous for their macheteros and their cattle rustlers, so welcoming the stranger is actually unambiguously a part of her religion, from a Historical and Anthropological point of view. You don't have to be Catholic to be loved. Please don't let the fact that her religion is historically a religion of war deter you. War is just a part of her religion, just like cattle rustling. Don't let history and anthropology freak you out. Remember, it's just science. And we all believe in science, don't we?)
