When Has God Stopped You?

When Has God Stopped You?
To the believers in these threads:

When has your belief in a god stopped you from doing (or not doing) something?

What was the something?

Is this a routine occurrence for you or rare?

Was doing (or not doing) the something bad or immoral in your own sight, but it took belief in holy retribution to stop you, rather than the action (or inaction) being enough?

In proportion, when has it been the law and its consequences that stopped you vs your belief?  90%?  5%?  0%?

Do you believe a god (rather than the law) stopped someone else in a situation you were personally involved in?

Well I was a Catholic and god never stopped me from doing anything.  What happened is that the clergy guilted me about stuff that's perfectly normal in rational human beings like eating meat on Fridays, masturbating or using birth control.  But they never stopped me.  Catholics have this "get out of jail free" card called The Sacrament of Reconciliation, aka "confession".  Jerk off all week, confess, go to Mass on Sunday, and you're good to go (to heaven).  Lather, rinse, repeat...

It's all bullshit of course.

When has god ever stopped anything?  Or started anything for that matter?

God is a fantasy for simpletons.

There would have to be a deity of course.

But I can clearly state that no deity or fear of one has ever stopped me from doing anything. I try to base my life on human ethical advancements.

I've been stopped in my tracks by a dog but not a god.

Big dangerous dogs are real. Deities aren't.

A related question is whether god actually helps anyone do the things he claims he wants them to do. Even Christians will say, "god helps those who help themselves" which the logical equivalent of "god doesn't help anyone".

Yup. Mord.

Two hands working accomplish far more than 10,000 claped in prayer!

…and when god doesn’t help, it’s because he said no, or wait. His rare yeses seem to match coincidences .
