For with much wisdom comes much sorrow, and as knowledge grows, grief increases.

I didn't know I needed to be so precise. I'll have to remember this next time before I speak.

I'm just curious how you established that King Solomon was wealthier than King Arthur (or anyone else for that matter). I mean Arthur had a magic sword, how many talents of gold is that worth? I was assuming you didn't just make it up that King Solomon was the wealthiest person of all time, but now I'm not so sure.

1 kings 23:23-24
"So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom. And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart."
Was King Solomon the richest man in the world?
1. King Solomon Net Worth = $2.1 Trillion. Here is the funny part: This figure did not include income derived from business, trade, nor the annual tribute paid to him by all of the kings and governors of Arabia.

Interesting question, Szu.
Even that fucking bible suggests that knowledge leads to unhappiness... in the story of Adam and Eve it was the tree of knowledge they ate from. Okay....anyone who believes that story is a fucking fool to begin with but there is some truth to the idea that having your eyes opened leads to an understanding of how rotten this world really is.
I have to disagree with the famous line of Dean Wormer from "Animal House." Lots of people do go through life "fat, drunk and stupid" and they are happy that way.

Something more or less like this:
I read on Wikipedia today:
"...in many countries and cultures plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and journalistic ethics, as well as social norms around learning, teaching, research, fairness, respect, and responsibility."

What was it John McEnroe said? You cannot be serious!
Anyone would know that was taken from the web!

No, I don't see dishonest. Nothing was stolen, and I think every one but you knew that type of information came from the web.

Most amusingly, Solomon is unknown anywhere in history or archaeology.
For such a rich and important motherfucker he did not leave much of a mark.
I expect you to explain that with some "mysterious ways" crap. But the simpler answer is that he is a mythological creation...just like moses, jesus and mohammed.

This dude is said to have been the richest man in the world:
1. Mansa Musa (1280-1337, king of the Mali empire): Wealth indescribable
The man is Mansa Musa of Mali. He was born in 1280 and became a ruler of the Malian empire. The 14th-century West African ruler who is described as the most generous ruler who wreaked havoc to his entire country economy and had implications in the Middle East and Europe as well .his wealth was so enormous that no one really knew how much of it he had and it’s just impossible to pin down a number.
Or maybe Genghis Khan, albeit he is usually thought to be Musa's follow up.

Increasing knowledge about specific subjects certainly saddened me from time to time but I think that real grief does not come from being aware but from painful realization that others neither know nor care.
As a side note supposedly self-reported wisdom and happiness aren't in conflict.
I'm what you might call an autodidact. I can't live without books. During my prime, I would read a book a week. I eventually accumulated a private library of 2,500+ books on scores of subjects. I love reading and acquiring new knowledge. I strongly disagree with the title of this thread.

You're free to do so. I can say that some knowledge certainly can bring happiness but much of it especially when it pertains to horrors of world history does not.
