Professionally caring for sadists

I'm working as a support worker at the moment and have come to realise that one of the people with profound autism I support is a sadist. They go out of their way, nay, consider it their primary activity of preference, to cause the workers who support them pain (both physical and mental). As such this might be a challenge to my mindset regarding caring for this person. Fair? Search me.

Yeah, just because someone has a physical or mental handicap does not necessarly mean they're a nice person.  My husband is a teacher and has had many autistic kids in his class.  Some are ok and some are selfish little assholes but he has to be patient with them otherwise he and the school gets sued.  The nicest handicapped kids are those with Downs syndrome.   They're always incredibly sweet kids.  I'm not sure why that is but they are.

Yes, be careful. I would try to set things in motion to have them diagnosed more and preferably removed into a care facility that can administer psychiatric drugs as needed. If he is a sociopath or psychopath, he could be very dangerous and ruin lives. Including yours.

The nicest handicapped kids are those with Downs syndrome.   They're always incredibly sweet kids.  I'm not sure why that is but they are.

The "difficult" ones can't go to school  - they exist, I've worked with one in an institution. They were sadistic too, seemingly. We didn't like them playing with their genitals at us on repeat, trashing their bathroom 10 times a shift, setting off the fire-alarm etc and they knew it oh so well. I got congratulated at the end of my first shift with them for not walking out or breaking down in tears, as had apparently many others.

They're non verbal and don't cause really acute physical harm. Yeah, more meds might well help...I'll mention it to my manager

For the record, upon further reflection and experience, this particular profoundly autistic person is not a prevailing sadist, and perhaps not even a sadist at all. We just supported him ineptly, the day I posted this thread, and so he "let us know" he was less than happy. He's a very complex and unique person and so we can be forgiven for fucking up like that, hopefully.
