Hi all, religion's rubbish ya boo sucks etc

Greetings, my main gripe with the whole God thing is that religious people all too often go "ah, well, God's in charge so we can leave that up to him" (eg. regarding global warming). I literally had a Jehovah's Witness say this very thing to me when he knocked on my door: "that's the beauty of it - we don't have to worry about that stuff!"

I live in England UK and am hopefully about to start a new job in support work. A bit to old and ugly to get a job as a waiter apparently. 

How're things round here?

My main gripe with religion is that it is a fairy tale that encourages people to do things that they know that they shouldn't do.


The witnesses don't go door to door in my area anymore, they post pamphlets and have a stand (with pamphlets) on my local park plying for passing trade.

Hi TinyDave, I used to live near Bristol and walked daily past a JW stand just as you describe. Once I picked up one of their leaflets and dropped it in an adjacent litter bin. They didn't like that and called their large male...er...boss? Who told me in short order I'd better sling my hook or they'd call the police!

Putting rubbish in a bin isn't a criminal act.

Welcome my friend, a fellow Brit here, this is a pretty good place. The only folks that have issues are religious trolls and the occasional secular troll and so long as no one shits on the carpet we're a pretty friendly bunch.
