The Reverse Dunning Kruger Effect
(01-23-2025, 01:43 AM)Vorpal Wrote: I described my driving experiences in a detailed way. I am not a particularly good driver but given the specific conditions here, the distance I was travelling and my method, it was an objectively smart decision to drive. I had a nice sit down meal at the Mexican for lunch and just got back from getting some take out pizza as you posted this.
My whole reason for writing this post was because yesterday I asked neighbors (online) to mention businesses that were open. I was dog piled on about the need to stay off the road. At that time I planned on walking and was criticized for risking wind chill damage. I know how to deal with winter better than these people for good reason. Specific details can create an exception to a general trend that is born of actual data not just bias.
You should have told them your story that, as a child, you walked to school 10 miles thru 4 feet of snow, and it was uphill both ways.
That would have shut them up.

The Reverse Dunning Kruger Effect
Police and EMT suffering from RDG.
“Honey you told us you had pain from drinking water and then you came in and you jumped at me and my partner and you demanded oxygen and you would not let go of me,” the woman says.
People in positions of authority or expertise who require unreasonable standards to be of help, need correction. Shouldn't greater latitude be given to people in crisis? When an expert is not taking something serious enough and there are rude methods employed to try to achieve understanding, it is encumbant on the professional to be professional and not hold on to boundaries expected under a normal situation. Feeling threatened? ASk is it reasonable to feel threatened. What is the potential consequence of strictly enforcing the need for politeness? Removing medical services because someone contradicts you makes no sense whatsoever. That you can point to him abruptly talking over you and holding your arm for 6 seconds as a threat to your safety is bogus. Very glad this woman was fired.
