It may have seemed that the present Pope wouldn't do this, but he did.
They endorsed the false idea that human sexual orientation is a "choice".
I suspect this will go down in history with some of the huge Medieval boondoggles involving science.
If they kicked out all the gays in Vatican positions, there would be no RC church administration left,
(and their antics were what forced Benedict to "retire").

But wait, I thought Francis was supposed to be all modern and tolerant and enlightened.

You'd think they'd be more sympathetic to men wearing dresses, wouldn't you?

They get them at a shop around the corner from the Vatican ... when I have time I'll look for the name and address.
I ordered some red cardinal socks from them once. I think I still have them. Big Grin

This must be a new dress code. I never saw a gown like the dude on the left is wearing on a church official before.

That's nuthin'. Angel
Do a search for Raymond Cardinal Burke ... he wears long red trains. He's so special.
(I think he has the distinction of being one of the only bishops to be tossed out of his own diocese by his own priests.)
I think they went on strike. So they moved him to St. Louis and they hated him too, so he's in Rome now. One of the 4 disobedient cardinals. I think Francis removed him from all responsibity ... maybe he's the Vicar of Malta, or something meaningless.
My gramps was in the diplomatic corps in Rome. When we came to visit, he was very careful about who and what we were exposed to.

This is just another of the many examples of this current turdburger pope
being just the same as all the popes who preceded him.  A nasty, bigoted,
homophobic old man who's totally out of touch with the modern world.

Why would anybody with half a working brain trust anything that someone
who dresses like this says?   Why do these supposed men wear dresses?

It was alleged at one stage that disgraced Aussie cardinal George Pell always
wore his clerical robe in order to enable quick access to his genitals.  No unzipping
or unbuttoning necessary, and no undies needed either.

I'm not sure how they can sit there with a straight face with one of those "fish-lips" hats on.
I wonder if they know they're wearing a pagan god's headress.

Of course they refused. And they did so in such a peremptory manner, one word: "Negative." The pope talks a good game, but he's just like all the rest, a superstitious bigot.

So much for humility, eh? The very arrogance of demanding a lackey lift your useless attire off the ground so that you stay pure ... I bet Jesus would throat-punch this asshole, if Jesus were real.

An updated case of scourging the temple money changers.  Thumbs Up

Funny you mention that; when I composed the post you quoted, I was originally going to write, "If Jesus were real, he'd toss these guys out just like the money-changers." I went for "throat-punch" for being more dynamic and modern imagery, lol.

The Roman Catholics make yet another historic mistake
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethi...al-morals/

....
A HORRIFIED National Catholic Register claimed in a piece published this week that the huge grant given by philanthropist Jon L Stryker, above, to the American Civil Liberties Union will be used to ‘limit religious freedom and undermine Christian sexual morals.’

Beneath the headline “ACLU Gets $15 Million LGBT Grant from Billionaire Foe of Christian Morals and Religious Freedom”, the site reported that the billionaire heir’s LGBT activism: Includes both funding for efforts to limit religious freedom and funding for Christian groups – including Catholic dissenters – that want to change their churches’ teachings on marriage and sexual morality.
....

This is going to be an interesting battle in America.

The good news is that most catholicks pay no attention to the pervert priests.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/...story.html

Quote:American Catholics are famously indifferent to the directives of their leaders. They don’t follow the rule book on much of anything: birth control, legal abortion, premarital sex, divorce.

They wish, by a wide margin, that their bishops were talking more about social justice issues such as poverty and less about culture-war issues such as abortion. When asked what matters to them most about being Catholic, they overwhelmingly say the resurrection of Jesus, not Vatican authority or celibate, male priests.

They are cultural catholicks.  They had this horseshit poured into their heads when they were kids and they can't shake it..... but they don't give a fuck what these bastards say.

Cafeteria Catholics ... they take what they chose, and decide for themselves what is important for themselves.
1 in 10 Americans is an ex-Catholic. It's a *thing*. A huge identifiable group.
