I had a really good date with someone today. I took her to the Butterfly Pavilion and Smash Burger. Now I have to go work out because the smash burger had as many calories as three red velvet cupcakes (which I also had one of).

Used to get that in the restaurant below my apartment in Sicily. Widow lady with four daughters ran it. She offered to marry me if I'd take the lot to the US. I declined, she was a bit long in the tooth for me. So she offered up any of her daughters instead. I was tempted there, the oldest was 21 and freakin' gorgeous. But marrying a five-some just didn't work for me.

My state tax return was successfully accepted by the Department of Revenue! I'm only getting $600 back this year. Last year I got $700 back, but my income dropped last year, so I paid less rent, and therefore less property tax. My refund usually comes at the end of July or early August. I can't wait.

Settled on a motherboard for my test rig. I went backward one chipset generation to pick up support for a cheaper CPU and gained an extra full-length PCIE slot at the same time. It will be under $200 total.

I found an LGA1155 socket motherboard to replace the one that fried. This will allow me to check the parts.

I successfully tested the 12V-2x6 cable for shorts and opens.  It was being overly cautious, but better safe than sorry.  It was a bit difficult.  I wedged the cable ends between my knees and pinned one probe against one connector with my fingerless hand while I probed the other connector with my other hand.

I took a selfie with my date when we went to the butterfly pavilion Saturday. Today I asked her if it was okay if I posted it on instagram: she said yes. That's a good sign!

I got a blood test and my creatin levels were high again so I had to take another blood test and get an ultrasound of my kidneys. I drank a lot of water for the second test and the levels came out better and the ultrasound showed my kidneys were fine! That's a huge worry off my plate. My creatin levels are still high so I'm being referred to a specialist but I'm in really good shape!

Probably the latter. I was guessing how it was spelled.

Creatinine is a waste product formed during the
breakdown of creatine. It is also created during
digestion and from consuming protein food sources.
The creatinine clearance test (you had?) is a test
that checks your how well your kidneys are working.

High creatinine is generally considered worse than
low creatinine. Measured using Mayo Clinic blood
tests it's typically >1.4 mg/dL for men, or >1.2 mg/dL
for women.

Creatine is a molecule naturally found in the body.

My kidney markers are both just above normal so I’m considered a 3a in the kidney failure scale…which is the lowest marker. My doc said that for now, we just need to make sure I’m not put on any medicines that are hard on the kidneys. While I’m not thrilled about it, I’m also not worrying about it either. I’m almost 74 and it’s not unusual though also not desired.

I wasn't sure if the woman I'm dating was mad at me or not because she hadn't responded for four days but she texted me today and everything's fine. It might seem silly to worry after that short a time frame but I get ghosted 85% of the time in online dating. It sucks. People are inconsiderate jerks. Her not ghosting me was a big deal.

Got the mortgage company to admit they made a ~$10,000 error, something they had been adamant about not having happened. They gave me a "liberty year", twelve months mortgage payments on them if I didn't go to the Feds with this.

I solved the split-tunneling issue that I was having with NordVPN. Both NordVPN and Surfshark have split-tunneling issues. On P.I.A. it just worked. Oh well. I won't switch VPNs again until next year.

I went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today. I saw a lot of cool exhibits like real 3000 year old mummies and a show on black holes at the planetarium but my favorite part was the dinosaur exhibit.

There's a weight machine in my gym where you kneel on a pad that pushes the amount of weight you choose upward and it assists you in doing pullups. Today, for the first time in my life, I was able to do ten completely unassisted pullups! This is huge because I weigh 207lbs. I've never been able to do that before. Aside from my creatine levels being high, which I have an appointment for, I'm in the best shape I've ever been in. It's a big achievement for someone who used to weigh 280lbs!

Make sure the doctor knows about your weight workouts. If I remember correctly, doing weights breaks down muscle tissue and raises creatinine levels. Be sure to bring it up.
