One of my dividend checks got mutilated in the mail. I called up my investment advisor and he began proceedings to have the check reissued. It should arrive here in five or six business days.  Thumbs Up

I'm only one day away from getting my next allotment of food stamps.

My liver issues aren't a concern to my doctor, so I can drink again.

Android and Google TV have added the Roku channel to their lineup. There are a lot of great TV series on there. I'm particularly interested in The Mentalist and Crossing Jordan.

My carpenter has completed repairs around my house. He also added a shelf to one of my kitchen cabinets and replaced the flooring on my front porch. Everything came to $1,717 which I thought was quite reasonable. I'm inviting a friend over for lunch next week to show off the work on the porch.  Smile

Going to the store to kill some time and lucking into a deal. Cub has a three-day sale, during which you can get a 10-pack of fried chicken drumsticks for $5. Last time they had this deal, I went the second day and they were sold out, so I didn't even bother to plan to get the deal. But I'm wasting time at the grocery store because I'm bored and there they were -- 10-packs of fried chicken. I checked the bus schedule, and the bus leaves in 10 minutes (which I was planning to skip and catch another an hour later). So I cram the chicken in my basket and run to the checkout. I made it to the bus stop with minutes to spare.

I actually have several old checks stuck to my refrigerator that are expired. I really should contact the issuers about getting them reissued!

There were issues at the bank (where the lobby was closed due to covid) and there was a problem with my ATM card not working (and it should have, but the bank is big on cancelling access if not used in 6 months).

Finished testing my new hard disks. They all check out, though the speed map was not what I expected, it looks normal. I bought these under promotional financing and so I was afraid that returning one due to a defect might invalidate the financing, but now I don't have to worry. When I tested the Samsungs, I did two at a time, and that would have taken four days, but I did all eight at once this time. Next up is putting it all in a box. Yay!

Alina's 10 puppies - having reached just under 8 weeks of age - were dispersed to their Forever Homes today.

Alina needs some TLC to take care of herself after tending to her brood for the last two months.  Tough being a mom but her owner is up to the job.

Here's a sample - they pretty much all look alike!

The first payment on the principal for the TV that I bought in November posted. Only $1225 left to go!

And I bought two pairs of Crocs during Amazon Prime Days, and I was going to order a third pair of a cute pattern this morning, but they'd sold out of my size in the last 24 hours. Luckily, Walmart has them!

In the Audiobook on mindfulness that I'm listening to, I learned a "loving kindness" mindfulness practice / meditation. That's the first one I've learned.

The highlight of my day was my grades are starting to come in for both of my classes. I'm getting A's in everything. World Mythology is hard but I'm sticking with it. I'm loving being a college student in my fifties.  Big Grin

Visited Mom at the nursing home. She's in good spirits and doing well. My siblings, my niece Erin and I played Mahjong while Mom ate lunch. I won for a change.  Smile

Found a recipe for One-Pan Zucchini-Pesto Orzo. I bought orzo last month to try it, and I'm on a big pesto kick. The only negative is that I don't have all the ingredients and since I'm trying not to spend unnecessarily atm, I may have to wait to fix it until next month.

I was about to let the goddess out the back door and saw a young possum staring at me. I waited until it decided to scamper and gave it time to get out of reach before letting the goddess out. Glad to see the possums on patrol and glad to see a new generation of them. Let them clear my world of debris and ticks. Yeah!

Donated to Abortion Without Borders. Showing middle finger to sub human fascist trash wanting to take away rights from women feels good.

This is shaping up to be a totally insane day for me, but here are the highlights so far:
  • Survived a Greek Society and Culture midterm.
  • Also survived an Intro to Psychology exam (one more to go!)
  • It's finally my registration day, and I'm all set for Fall 2023 and Winter 2024.  Taking the Indigenous Studies course required for my degree, as well as Greek 1 and 2, Intro to Philosophy, Latin 3, and another Anthropology course.
Now I can relax for about four hours and then am heading out to play a band concert.   Dance

I always loved cultural anthro. So interesting and though provoking.

I did Cultural Anthro back in the winter term and did really well in it.  The one I'm taking next winter is called Human Origins and Antiquity, and it's a prerequisite for an Archaeology course that I want to eventually take.  Who knows - I might wind up with a minor in Anthropology (although a minor in Philosophy is also quite possible).

My diabetes nurse told me at my bi-annual review that my long term blood sugar level is now NORMAL, largely due to my losing 13kg in weight. Also had takeaway pizza for dinner and won £50 on the New Zealand/Norway game (women's soccer world cup). Bloody well good day, basically  Thumbs Up

I have loved reading my whole life but disliked school.  For me, school interfered with my reading.

I graduated early from high school (after the 11th grade), by meeting the various requirements.  I thought college would be better, but dropped out of two different colleges before I gave up.

You have to like people to want to be around so many of them.

I was more social back then, by far, than I am now.

My friend Tom came over for lunch. I made frypan quiche. We spent a pleasant afternoon conversing and watching movies from my collection.  Smile

I enjoyed a vegetarian omelette with potatoes and toast for breakfast at the Gateway Diner in Holmes, PA this morning.  That was especially nice since I've generally been avoiding eating out this month to lose a few pounds.

So far it's working.   thumbsup2

Went to the big orange box store for a piece of wood for a rack I'm building. It rang up at 1¢ per foot. The cashier asked a supervisor what the deal was. He checked and the inventory list says that they don't have that piece of wood. So they can't sell it to me, they just gave it to me because it would cost more to put it back in the system! FREE piece of mahogany.  Dance
