Been dipping my toes into building miniatures, 40k so far but not big on the game attached so may pivot into Age of Sigmar, and was wondering if anyone else is into this weird fun little hobby. Have a que of Space Marines and a couple of Heavy Bolter Sisters of Battle primed and ready to be painted. Have 1 sister Superior with a chain sword and combi plasma-bolter 1 sister with a multi-melta and 1 sister with a flamer painted up and for a first attempt I am pleased as punch with them.

Anyone build/Play Miniature games?

Do my finances count?
I played some WWII miniatures when I was younger, but it was with other people's miniatures. I never saw the need to collect my own.
Mountain-high though the difficulties appear, terrible and gloomy though all things seem, they are but Mâyâ.
Fear not — it is banished. Crush it, and it vanishes. Stamp upon it, and it dies. Vivekananda
I used to paint D&D figs. Never used them in gaming, just enjoyed the act of painting them.
Finished the rest of the Squad save the Cyber-Cherubs. One thing I do like about 40k's mishmash of gobbledygook is a term Cyber Cherub isn't even in the top 30 of weird things.
Well I signed up for a Warhammer Age of Sigmar League at my local Game Store (LGS) ordered some models to get started. This is the tester I painted to check the color scheme I am going with, think it turned out really nice.
Got both of the squads painted. Colors work well and the Army is starting to come together.
Those are cool figurines and you have some ass-kicking painting skills. When I make a wood carving, I have my wife paint them (if she ever gets to it). I've painted some with, as I will call it, "limited success".
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
It's been about 20 years, but I used to paint lead and pewter miniatures for D&D. I still have vague aspirations of painting 32 to make a humans vs undead chess set.
Here is one I painted for my wife (girlfriend at the time) 23 years ago. Its the only one I have a picture of. They're all packed away in my in-laws attic back in the states.

Anyone build/Play Miniature games?
Grabbed a Lord-Exorcist yesterday and got him built and painted up.
Got my 500 point list up and running friday and finished painting it today. Have 2 configurations depending on the opponent.
How long did it take you to paint the Lord-Exorcist?

There are a lot of easy techniques to speed painting and having it come out looking good. I found a lot of useful tricks and tips from this youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9XTzwe...UGS9cLKFLw
I keep skipping past this thread because I'm not into gaming but I do like miniatures so half of it interests me. When I was a kid I loved to make these model boats. Loved it! I would work for hours putting together these things. Maybe I'll take this hobby up again, it was fun and interesting and I learned about historical boats.

Never made one, but read a great deal about them. They're still neat even knowing how they're made.

Lord Arcanium on Gryph-charger mostly finished still need to do washes and add a bit of detail.
and a squad of Evocators 1000 points of Stormcast Eternals Everblaze Comet Full army painted up and ready to go. House Delaque ganger for the game Necromunda House Delaque gang "The Silent Dusk" all gussied up and ready to dance. Luther Pattern Excavation Automata "Ambot" a mining drone for Necromunda. Speaking of Necromunda here is Necromunda Underhive box all assembled and laid out, along with some other books and accessories I have picked up. Great way to start up if you have any interest in tabletop miniatures as the box comes with 2 Gangs with all the accessories you need to play. Here is the set up for the first scenario from the book. |
