Modern Christmas Song Rendered in Latin
Modern Christmas Song Rendered in Latin
This is probably me at my nerdiest, but even for those who don't know a word of Latin, I thought it might still be interesting as a novelty if nothing else. Since "O Come All Ye Faithful" is an English translation of a Latin carol, I thought it was particularly appropriate to turn the tables on the process. It's not perfect, since the singer's pronunciation falters in a couple of spots, and although I got some feedback from more experienced and/or credentialed Latinists, I am still just an autodidact, so grammatical/idiomatic impeccability is not guaranteed. Nevertheless, it's a great proof-of-concept, at the very least!
I also have tentative Latin lyrics for "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
