Finally opening up about abortion on this forum

Finally opening up about abortion on this forum
Catholics make up about 22% of the population and 24% of abortions. It’s estimated that ~80% of childbearing age Catholics use birth control. Catholics know what their church teaches…they just don’t care. The pope doesn’t reside in their family, pay their bills or sleep in their bed.

While ~22% may still claim to be Catholic, probably only 7% regularly attend Mass, believe the wafer and wine is Jesus and that the Catholic Church has much relevance in their life these days.

The church always has its hand out for money, though.

Church is mostly a social construct.  People go to see their friends and socalize with other like minded folks.  It's more like a hobby with a ritual attached to it.

I grew up attending our Orthodox Jewish synagogue and early on, realized that most everyone there was for the social aspect.  Back then, women and men had segregated seating and they like it that way…they could sit with their friends and quietly gossip away.  There is comfort in being with your tribe.

At 18 I quit going and completely disengaged by 22.  I didn’t need anything they had to offer…plus, bacon!  Chuckle
