Thawing some ground beef to make tater tot casserole. I bought the tater tots two months ago and am finally getting around to making the casserole.

I goofed up on my casserole. It called for two pounds of ground beef and I only prepared one pound. So I cut the recipe in half, more or less. I'll have to try this again with the right amount of ground beef.

Coming home last night police had blocked off the south access road, I went around. Coming from the north at the top of the hill I saw that the road was blocked off also, near a railroad track that has a chemical plant. Nothing on the news yet but it smelled like insecticide in the neighborhood. We shut the house up, shut off the house heat and used small area heaters. This AM the smell is gone.

Just about to take the dog for a walk, it's a nice crisp morning here, blue skies and no chance of rain.
Later today I have a dental appointment, there's something going on in my mouth that needs expert intervention.

Drinking coffee and listening to the morning news. My tinnitus has gotten significantly worse over the past year and it's become a central issue in my life. The sound from the news show helps.

Took a trip down to Saint Joseph Missouri this AM. All of the sandpits next to the interstate were filled with migrating snow geese.

We have large numbers of Canadian geese that overwinter here. Then, come early spring and thousands more join them. Most of our city parks have ponds and are overrun with geese all summer. Besides having a nasty temperament, they crap all over the place.
The city has tried a variety of tricks to get them out. My favorite was cardboard wolves placed here and there in the parks. Nothing has worked. We have a Game and Fish regulation that dogs aren’t supposed to be allowed to hassle wildlife. They removed it from geese. Lots of dog walkers now let their dogs harass them. The geese always get away as they just fly onto the ponds….even if the dogs try to swim to them, the geese are much faster. The one time I really enjoy them is when they first bring the goslings out for a swim. They’re so ugly they’re cute!

Cleaning my ice maker. It's a pain but if you don't, they wear out quicker. The drain plug on my new one is underneath, which is much harder to reinsert than my last one's plug, which was on the back.
