I pent so much money during Prime Days.  Close to $300.

Ah, I get that.  While I tend tocook in the smallest pan possible, sometimes 2 things can be cooked at the same time.  My 8" cast iron skillet will cook a steak among the roasting bell peppers and mushrooms to the betterment of both.

A lot of it is trying new things. I've turned a corner this year and am using stainless steel cookware for most things. That means that I'm replacing a lot of cheap nonstick cookware, and even switching from using enameled cast-iron in spots to using stainless steel instead. That means buying a lot of new cookware without knowing for sure what will or will not end up being a mainstay in my arsenal.

I'm just making up a list for our yard maintenance/gardener
people to do tomorrow.  Weeding, potting, mowing, pruning
etc.  Also chucking out nonburnable hard waste on to our
nature strip for the annual shire collection next week.

All exciting stuff.     Tongue

In 1970, I took a summer job selling Woderware cookware. The stuff was literally "wonderful". Tri-plad with Stainless steel inside and out with a full copper middle. Utterly indestructable (and one drunk husband tried to prove me wrong by jumping on and ended up on the floor). The heat transsfer was so good you, could stand them 3 high and bake a cake on the top (standard sales technique).

But I quicklylearned that they were a scam. The cookware was great, but their profit model was to sell it to young women who couldn't keep up the payments (the stuff was great but not cheap). So I was reselling previous sets. The one good thing was that after my first sale, I owned the sample set. I quiit sfter 2 week.

But After 55 years, what remains is still great stuff, though half the stuff was stolen by some college guys.

That and 2 cast iron skillet and 1 nonstick get me through the days... And I really do cook a lot.

Ordering another knife sharpening system. There's a popular cheap version of this style that sells for $30-35, which I didn't feel like spending. But this cheap clone was only $19, so I figured what the hell. And I installed a couple of angle measuring apps on my phone. Probably not super accurate, but who cares?

Setting out some garlic rubbed bef. Aldi's wasn't very specific other than 'beef' and 'fillet'. Judging by the striations, I'm gonna say leg muscle. I put some dill pickle rub on it for giggles.

Trying about everything we can think of to get Lexy to eat, it's been two days of no drinking or eating. She's having a flair of her IBD (fairly common in her breed). Went to the vet, got her checked out, injection of dexamethasone and maropitant (nausea) and 500ml of sub q fluids. She goes in tomorrow AM (9ish) if not better for another eval and more fluids. We're suppose to bring in another stool sample if she provides one.

Very glad we have pet insurance.

Do you mind if I ask which insurance plan you purchased?  We’ve been looking into them for our new rescue and it’s confusing to know who’s good and what level we need.  Any sharing would be appreciated!

Be sure to check on per condition and/or lifetime limits, try to find one without. We don't go for the plans that cover routine care, the premium is cost prohibitive.

Edit: FYI, all that we've looked at have pre existing condition clauses. Hopefully your rescue hasn't been to the vet for much.

The Lexy issue, part 2, off to the vet again this morning. Since the medication had little to no effect they are wondering if she has a foreign body blockage. Barium swallow/x-rays, results sent to a radiologist to review, return a 4pm for endoscopic removal or opening her up. Even if they don't find something she'll still have the endoscopy, gastric cancer runs in the breed also.

My granddaughter’s cat had a blockage several months ago with the same sounding symptoms as your pet.  The vet surgically removed the blockage which consisted of small pieces of plastic and a purple feather.  Pedro is doing fine and all plastic toys and/or feathered ones have been replaced!  She now has pet insurance, too.  Hoping for a great resolution to yours as well!

Lexy part 3, dodging a bullet. The radiologist said he couldn't see anything and they were debating the next course of action when Lexy started begging for treats that the vets keep in each exam room. So either the steroids had enough time to get the inflammation down or if it was a blockage it became unblocked. She's still in a pissy mood but back to eating and drinking. The issue is now with my wife, she's constantly offering food and water and starts to worry all over again when Lexy says she's had enough. I'm sure her gut is still tender.

Have you searched for a hairball?

I’m glad it resolved without intervention.  Cats are pretty pathetic post surgery and wearing a cone of shame…

Taking meds and going over next week's grocery shopping list.  Writing

While I don’t the god part, I still say “bless you” when someone sneezes.  I can’t help it…ingrained from childhood, I guess.

Haha. Yeah. I just get all awkward when someone sneezes. Sometimes I say nothing but kind of look away, and others a "gezundheit".

With the guy at the supermarket, he was just an old man feeling sorry for me. Pretty used to those "god bless yous". I get it.

For giggles, I should have sneezed after he said it. I just ignored him.

I'm putting on some chicken wings. I bought some ancho chile powder and guajillo chile powder. I'm trying the ancho first.

I got my vote in. I kept going back and enlarging the circle for my vote for president. I was neurotically obsessed with the fear that my vote would not end up being counted if I missed even a sliver of white in blackening the oval. This is despite living in a perennially blue state, and a perennially blue part of that state. I've probably never cast a vote that actually mattered, yet I worry incessantly about my vote.

My wife's mom took a turn for the worse and she needs to leave Thursday for the drive to Cali (she'd fly but she wants to take Lexy, apparently I'm untrustworthy). Looks like we're doing early voting tomorrow. Wait time was 45 minutes on Monday, hopefully it will be less.

I gave some thought to voting here, as it's much closer than the poll I normally use, but I had a hunch it would be busy. There was no waiting where I voted.

Dry brining a steak. This is the second steak where the seal on the vacuum bag failed. I caught the first while sealing. It's lucky that I'm cooking this steak tonight, as it wouldn't last long after thawing without a good seal.
