The Insidious Advancement of Islam in Australia
(10-23-2024, 04:16 PM)SYZ Wrote: From yesterday's ABC Australia news...

Swinburne University in Melbourne has decided to close
its Hawthorn campus prayer room on Fridays—the Muslim
holy day when congregational prayers are held—forcing
dozens of Muslim students to pray elsewhere, and has
sparked outrage among almost 400 members of the
Swinburne Islamic Society.

A spokesperson for the university said the breaches
included some members of the Swinburne Islamic
Society refusing to allow the university-appointed
Muslim chaplain to lead prayers
, as well as "encouraging
attendance from large numbers of people not associated
with the university".

President of the Swinburne Islamic Society Tabish Rather
said the chaplain's presence on 11 October was "unnecessary"
and upset the students who wanted one of their own to
lead the prayer
.

He also said the time restrictions on the Multi Faith Centre
from 5AM to 11PM meant many students had nowhere to
do early morning prayers during Ramadan, as the nearest
mosque was located 13 kilometres from campus.

Muslim student Fatima said, "It's a chill safe space, especially
for us as hijabi women because it's that one place where you
feel like your modesty is being guarded".

—These sorts of divisive activities are typical of the Australian
Muslim "community", who are never satisfied with the societal
conditions they encounter in a largely secular population.  And
they expect—no, demand of us—that we put up with every absurd
element that's part of their obnoxious, anti-social religion.

I suggest they start their own university, problem solved,.................... until they start rejecting non-muslim students. Panic

Swinburne University (which I attended in 1989) had
appointed their own Muslim Imam four years ago.
Sheikh Moustapha Sarakibi, who as the Victorian Director
of the Board of Imams, is more than well qualified to
lead prayers.

But a radicalised splinter group of young Muslims has
rejected him—for some unstated reasons—and wanted
to replace him with their own selection of Imam.

It was their physical protests on campus that caused the
closure of their prayer room on Fridays—in an attempt to
defuse the confrontations between the two opposing Islamic
sub-groups, each of which supported the different Imams.

I have no evidence, but I suspect that this
may have something to do with the ongoing,
undercurrent of mutual Shia-Sunni distrust.

This is typical of Islamic migrants and/or their
families that bring their often confrontational
politico-religious viewpoints to Australia, and
expect us dinky-dis to just suck it up.

Muslims have already established their own
secondary colleges, such as these in Melbourne;
The Darul Ulum College, the Al-Taqwa College,
and the Al Siraat College and others across Australia.

All are strictly Islamic (no infidels allowed!) and
observe strict dress codes;  Muslim male tunic
with elastic waist pants, and Sunnah cap for boys,
and for girls ankle length tunic with leggings, and
hijab with hijab inner.

Then they have nothing to bitch about, they have other options where apparently all of their demands are already being met.

That isn't what I'm seeing on your news sites. According to ABC:

Quote:Another issue has been the university's appointment of a Muslim chaplain earlier this year.

The chaplain was given the role of overseeing and delivering the sermon for the Swinburne Islamic Society-run Friday prayer.

The university also appoints accredited Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Hindu chaplains to speak and lead prayers and other rituals in the centre.

But Mr Rather said there was no need for new chaplain to oversee the student-run prayer service.

"The Swinburne Islamic Society has been running their own Friday prayers without issue for the past 14 years," he said.

"As a Muslim community and independent student body it's our right to nominate our imam. We want a fellow student who knows the struggles we face, not an outsider."

In an online poll, 201 members of the Swinburne Islamic Society voted unanimously to keep a student-run Friday prayer service rather than a chaplain-led service.

So there doesn't seem to have been a problem until the university decided to force their chaplain on the Muslim students. The university administration then doubled down on their imbecility by closing the prayer room. Telling people when, where, and how to pray is about as far from secularism as you can get and I hope that somebody gives the university administration the belt beating that they so clearly need.

The "radicalized splinter group" that you speak of appears to be every single member of the Swinburne Islamic Society and they've taken the drastic step of, wait for it, calling for peaceful protests.

And while I'm checking facts, it looks like this is 201 students out of Swinburne's ~66,000. Clearly they're taking over your country.  Panic
