More mysterious ways from the superstitious.

https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-...story.html

Quote:‘God is right here weeping with us’: Historic 19th century East Village church destroyed by raging fire started in vacant building

Devastated parishioners gathered outside a historic 19th century East Village church gutted early Saturday by a raging six-alarm fire that left only its massive stone facade intact.

Quote:“We know that God does not cause these kinds of tragedies but is present with us and to us as we grieve, present in the hugs and prayers of loved ones.”

Yeah....and he can't put them out, either.  Fairly worthless "god" you have there.

Massive clouds of toxic smoke, and burned to the water line!

I'll bet someone called the fire department when they saw the flames. Betcha they didn't just pray the fire away.   Oh, and touchdown Jesus is the ugliest piece of shit statue ever.  So ugly that Thor took it upon himself to destroy the shit out of it.

He couldn't prevail upon iron chariots so why expect that he will get better with age?

Not only that, Szu, when he told the "israelites" to get out of Egypt he told them to avoid Philistia because those motherfuckers were too tough for him.

God is the original Cadet Bonespurs.

He can't even do the deed with Mary so he sent an angel to screw poor little Mary.  What's the deal, does God have ED?     Anyway, the age of concent was 12  but she was maybe 14 or so. Nice going, God.

Nothing demonstrates the power of god more to me than a lightning conductor on a church. It also shows just how much faith in his powers the priest/vicar/whatever has in their omnipotent deity. Laughable.

Regardless of what you think of religion and its adherents, it's still a shame to lose
these sorts of historic buildings and the stories they can tell.  Built in 1892, the church
was the home of the oldest congregation of the Collegiate Churches of New York, which
date to the Dutch settlement of the island in the 1620s,

If the FDNY, the best fire department in America couldn't save the buildings, then god
wouldn't have had a chance LOL.
I'm a creationist;   I believe that man created God.

Hey, they saved the lot. The ground was more valuable than the building on it.

I agree.  There are some really beautiful religious architecture around the world.  Even though religion is nonsense I hate to see beautiful old buildings burn down, even an old historic church.   If you think about it the pyramids were not just fancy royal tombs but interwoven with Egyptian religious practices.  I'd hate to see the pyramids crumble too.
