From the Gospel of Atrocities (Part V)
Thank you--have to check that out. According to my information, while the original charges against her had nothing to do with witchcraft, accusations of witchery in both her personal life and as a military leader was what finally made her conviction palatable--and her eventual death sentence seem justifiable enough--to the general public; of course, save in France. Other than that, I admit that I know next to nothing about her; I just dropped her name, along with mention of the Salem witch trials, as a reasonably recognizable lead-in to the subject at hand. Care to recommend any good reads about her life, or at least her trial and execution?
