Yeah, slaughtering here, at least on the large scale, is "a bit" different:
Note the pens filled with hundreds of cows, kept right next to the slaughter chutes, probably within hearing range of the slaughter room.
Fortunately, we have a butcher nearby that sources locally and uses humane practices. The cost is a little higher, but I'd rather pay a bit more than support the industrial slaughterhouses.
As an added bonus, we can get bison, elk, rabbit, Arkansas Tree Chicken, frogs legs, and occasionally rattlesnake, all from the same place.
