Here is the course:

The winner was done in 3 days 5:42 and averaged 9.3 MPH around the clock, 223.3 miles a day.
That's crazy! I might have tried this back when I was 50 years younger and was immortal. Congratulate him for me.
I had a friend from another forum meet him and cheer him on in Ephrata. He was totally surprised and pleased, they sent him for some good tacos before he heads for Moses Lake.

He texted me about Mike meeting him, and I offered to get him a hotel room at Moses Lake. He thought he might push on to Othello LOL. I said OK.
A while ago I get this text:
"Yep, just got chased by a yearling and the biggest bull I've ever seen started at me. Moses lake it is. Wherever you think looks good is fine with me. Just need towels and clean sheets"
Haha that will open your eyes!!
I figured out a route for him and booked a room.
Here is the end of the race story:
yesterday he got passed by a 26 year old on a mission. When he got to Ritzville he decided to have another nice rest in a hotel room. That paid off for him.
The woman who had been chasing him and closing got an early start and was 17 miles ahead of him when he got going at 5:40 AM.
Because of his good rest, he was just on fire today. he rode the 107 miles in just about 10 hours and blew by her in the last 40 miles and finished 9th.
He made up the 17 miles and then finished 2 hours ahead. That was cooking! it is an amazing feat after 5 days of 120+ miles a day.
That 26 year old? he rode all night, and got lost for a few hours, and pushed on and finished before noon today.
my brother forwarded this picture from the last few miles. He was riding down the Idaho/Washington state line, and had to stop a while and give this moose some space.

He also saw a bear near the trail at the top of Snoqualmie Pass, and later he heard that some riders had to wait it out.
I wonder if the bear was looking for some protection peanut butter. Maybe snickers bars?
