I'm calling it today, as they destroy the Angels, that the Minnesota Twins will win the World Series this year.
Anyone for friendly wagers?
Defend your team.

Say that to Albert's face.
He's an old fart.

If the Cubs won the Series, it would be a sure precursor of Armageddon, so by playing down they are secretly winning for the world.
...how's that?

If they get back to full force they will have a good chance. As long as the pitching can hold up. The Twins just can't beat the Yankees in the playoffs. Boston is tough too. Baseball is full of surprises. It's not really who is the best team over all, but which is the best team in that day.

They're, what, ten games over .500? If they get through that division, why not them?

If I was an optimist, I could see 10 games over .500 as a path to the Series. But the Cubs don't work on an optimism/pessimism scale; no matter the talent or odds, defeat is pulled from Victory's jaws. I agree with Mike Royko's classic assessment: “A Pessimist sees the glass as half empty; A Cub Fan wonders when it's gonna spill.”

I thought that might have lessened after you guys actually won a WS. Most Minnesota sports fans sound the same.
