I noticed in the pets thread there are a few of us owned by black cats. So a thread, dedicated to them.

My daughter took this one just a few minutes ago of Lucky.  Two years ago we had a friend in town for Thanksgiving holiday, we were out all day zip lining and having fun. It was getting late and pretty cold, especially for SC. I pulled into the gas station, got out to pump the gas and this itty bitty meow was right at my feet. I picked her up handed to my sister in the passenger seat who was quite surprised. By the time I finished pumping gas, she was being snuggled by 3 kids in the back of the van. My girls agreed to be her caretaker.  She was so tiny she could fit in one hand. We think she is hard of hearing or deaf. It’s way too easy to sneak up in her and sounds that should startle or at the very least make her twitch an ear, don’t seem to phase her (my daughter plays trumpet & piano).

Hubby came home one day and asked me to hold out my hands. He reached in his pockets and dropped a teeny tiny kitten in each hand. Apart from the fact that they were way too little to be away from mom, they were crawling with fleas and not energetic. Hubby had confiscated the kittens from a bunch of boys who were throwing them at each other. So I sent him back into town to the vet to get some Kitty formula and a bottle and whatever the doc thought the kittens could tolerate as flea treatment. Meanwhile I bathed them in soapy water. Tons of fleas came off. Rinse, dry, rub in some oil, repeat. By then hubby was back and we fed them and they fell asleep.

Anyway, Curly is an old Tom by now, he's 14 and he lost his brother a couple of years ago. Neither of them really ever adjusted to losing my husband. I thought his dog would be the one with the most grief, but it was the cats. Curly still spends almost all day in hubby's man cave, which I have slowly converted into a pantry. He comes out about one hour every morning and wants pets and cuddles, then he goes back in there.

Those are some real cuties! I've never owned a black cat. All of the strays I've taken in just happened to be brown, gray, white, etc.
Yay black cats!

No kidding.

Anyone in the house: "Rob/Dad, can you get me--"

Me: "I have a cat on my lap!"

I have a 12-year-old black cat named Cricket. She's an indoor cat and a good mouser. Unfortunately, I have no cell phone or digital camera, so I can't post her picture here.

Just sketch a picture of her in the air, we'll be fine with that.

The Saudi crowned prince of cats.
Aw loving these black cat photos, I used to have a black cat several years ago, Salem. My dad found him begging at a Dairy Queen on Halloween night when he was a kitten. My parents had to put him down about five years ago when he started growing tumors in his face. He loved to be carried like a baby, and to have his belly rubbed Big Grin

Sorry to hear about the loss of your parent's cat. Both of my cats tricked us into getting them when they were kittens by letting us carry them and rub their bellies. They grew out of that.
