Wait, am I reading that right?  The Lux ad?  "will freshen up you're flaps and keep it stinking like an old kipper"  Huh????????????   What's a mimsy?  It is what I think it is??

Most exciting ride for me was an early 80's Porsche 930 owned by a friend of a babysitter's husband who had previously lived in Germany and, I guess, imported the car over here. 

I am indeed an 80's nostalgia buff. That's when I grew up, fopr the most part. YouTube, time machine that it is, has lots of vids of old commercials and newscasts from them. It's kind of a riot (to people like me [which may mean just me]). 





News was slow as molasses. Weather was archaic. Commercial jingles were blushworthy.

This is one of my favorite stupid ads ever in which an "independent labratory" tested the dirt on the face of a model for a 1950's cosmetic's advertisement.  

 ".....this same dirt was made just radio active enough to register on a Geiger counter."  click, click, click, click.     Shock

This is the new Holden (GMH) motor vehicle plant in Melbourne in 1951.  This car, the 48-215 (or so-called "FX" model)
was to become, according to GMH, "Australia's Own Car".  People with sharp eyes will notice it looks remarkably like the
US Chevrolet "Fleetline", which of course the FX was modelled around.

And the (1949?) US Chevy, this one with deleted bumper overriders and added turn indicators...

A couple of years later the FJ Holden was given a new look "modern" grille, again mimicking the US Chevy...
