It's Holocaust Remembrance Day
75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. 200 survivors came to the celebration. Some of them held very good speeches. They're between 85 and 98 and I shudder to think what happens to the memory, once they are gone. Even more in our general political climate.

My maternal grandfather was present at the liberation of Bergen-Belsen he died in the late 70s but I still remember the screams of his nightmares when he came to stay with us. Lest we forget, bless you grampy xx

I didn't check extensively, but it seems that Trump spent the day tweeting kind words about the Joos and then rouding it out by making veiled threats against a duly elected member of congress.

“It started this way, in Europe. This is the exact pattern we are going into. And I am very concerned what's going to be happening in many, many years to come.”

It already repeated itself after Shoah be it in Cambodia or Rwanda and there is talk of Rohingya genocide.

Poland also took steps that may end in blood being shed - about 80 municipalities in Poland decided to label themselves "LGBT free zone". One does not have to study history too deeply to know that Jews before being killed were labeled, stigmatized and denied rights.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Indeed it has, sad to say.
