I don't know how the software awards stars. I don't want to poke around either if I can help it, things can break in the backend. My guess is that it has to do with length of membership, posts made, and perhaps likes received and ratings received. Dunno the exact make-up of those calculations, and I am just guessing the components.

@Aliza may know the settings.
